Security Equipment
In everyone’s life there comes a time when you begin to question your safety. Usually this is triggered by something that you witnessed personally or – far more likely – a current event you saw on the local news. Either way, the incident got under your skin. It slowed you down a little and made you look at your life more precisely. Suddenly you feel a bit more vulnerable than you did before. This is not a feeling anyone of us likes or appreciates. It fears us and makes us aware of the dangers of our environment. I don’t necessarily see fear as a bad thing. It increases our concentration and we take more things into account. It is essential that we’re aware of the fact that we’re not invulnerable to harm and death. Knowing this encourages us to take precautions and be wary of our everyday surroundings. The security equipment that you once considered ridiculous and over-the-top is now looking like an important investment.
You won’t see yourself shying away from self-defense, personal protection devices and surveillance cameras anymore. I’m a father to wonderful children, I’m a husband to a great wife and I have a job to do. It’s by far the most important job of my life. Protecting the ones I hold dearest and ensuring their safety. Naturally this may involve some standard safety products for the home. I realized of course that I can only prepare my family members for the harsh world outside but I know that I can protect them while inside the home. This requires heavy dead bolts on each door, window alarms for every window in our house, Plexiglas on the ground floor and security cameras on all corners of the home’s exterior. I even take this process one step further with infrared cameras. This allows me to see what’s going on outdoors even at night-time. We concluded that this is the time when we’re most vulnerable. The cloak of night provides a good cover for criminals to lurk around. But if they approach my home, I can spot them coming. I also installed a survey alarm, which basically surveys the lawn and chimes if someone tries to get close to our home. These aren’t as expensive as expected.
In the end, it’s really all up to you. It depends on what kind of home security equipment you prefer and on how much you are willing to spend. If you’re not into the more pricey services such as Brinks and ADT, at least take some simple measures such as secure dead bolts and window alarms into consideration. These will keep unwanted intruders out of your garden and your four walls.
