Window Alarms
I used to work as a maid to pay my college and that’s where I learned a thing or two about home security. There were a lot of great homes that I cleaned on a weekly basis and most of them had at least some sort of alarm system. Most of those houses were in great neighborhoods but there were also some really nice ones hidden in – let’s say it quite frankly – not so nice neighborhoods. Very often you couldn’t tell it from the outside but some of the houses in the bad neighborhoods were nicer than the obvious ones. One of those things that I noticed was the heavy use of window alarms.
We were often warned not to open any windows while we are in a house because you never knew if they had window alarms installed or not. In most cases they were silent alarms but some of them would sound off rather loudly. I learned it the hard way because some of my coworkers would open the windows despite the warning from the supervisor. In many cases it was possible to tell that there were window alarms but sometimes you could not see them at all. That is why you never took the chance unless the homeowner told you otherwise.
If you want window alarms in your home you should think about it first. Don’t forget that once you have installed them you run the risk that someone in your home sets off your alarm system accidentally. You might not need to have them on the second floor windows – but quite honestly – if you are worried enough to get window alarms you will get them on every single window in your home. It’s important to make sure that your family knows what to do and that you tell those who come into your home about the alarms. You don’t want to set off a lot of false alarms although most alarm companies are used to it.
You may be offered window alarms when you put in your alarm system or you may decide that you would like to have some at a later point in time. No hesitation if you feel that window alarms are something that you need to have. Feeling safe in your own home is the number one priority and if that means that you have to add window alarms to your system then you should by all means do so. They say you cannot put a price on security but investing some money more in your alarm system makes you feel safe, it’s worthwhile to do so.
